Jan from Eduvik wins the audience award at the JCI Award Flemish Brabant Young Entrepreneur 2025

On April 24th, the JCI Awards ceremony took place at De Hoorn in Leuven. I’m proud to share that I — Jan Kunnen, co-founder of tutoring platform Eduvik — received the Audience Award during this evening full of entrepreneurship and inspiration.

Standing on stage as a young entrepreneur felt truly special. Not only for the recognition itself, but because it marked a symbolic milestone in a journey that started when I was just 14 years old. One math tutoring session sparked a passion that never left me. Ever since, I’ve been committed to a mission: making educational support accessible, fair, and affordable for every student.

What started with one-on-one tutoring evolved into a systemic approach. In 2016, I founded my first tutoring organization. Today, together with a fantastic team of co-founders and partners, I’m building Eduvik — a platform offering transparent and affordable tutoring. Through our non-profit branch, EduCare, we also work with schools, municipalities, and organizations to create structural initiatives like homework classes, peer tutoring programs, and summer schools. Always driven by the belief that good education starts with equal opportunities.

As an entrepreneur, I’m constantly looking for balance: between technology and humanity, between business and social impact. Winning the Audience Award for this journey feels like a validation of the path we’re on — not always easy, often unconventional, but always essential.

I also want to congratulate the other finalists. It was an honor to stand among these three strong entrepreneurs:
🔸 Mathias Vanduffel (Rootsum) — fair winner of the jury prize
🔸 Julie Hermans (Cumbaya)
🔸 Stefan Walraven (Inmanta)

Their stories are truly inspiring and showcase the richness of young entrepreneurship today. You can find more information at www.jciawardvlaamse brabant.be.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who voted for me. This Audience Award gives me extra motivation to continue building a fairer and more accessible educational system — one where quality support is not a luxury but a basic right. That’s what I believe in, and that’s what drives me every day.

We're just getting started.
