How to Become a Tutor on Eduvik: 10 Steps to Start Making a Real Impact
A simple guide for (aspiring) tutors
Want to tutor on your own terms, without the hassle, and make a real difference? Then Eduvik is for you. We’re a transparent platform where you choose who you tutor, when you do it, and at what rate. No hidden costs, no contracts — just clear communication and a user-friendly experience.
This blog walks you through how to become a tutor on Eduvik, step by step, and how to get the most out of your profile.
1. Create an account
Head over to www.eduvik.com and click “Get started”. Fill out your details, select the subjects you offer, and indicate where you're available (online, in-person, or regionally). This helps us match you with the right students.
2. Schedule your introductory call with Jan
We'd love to get to know you better in a short video call — no standard test, just an informal introduction. 📞
- You don't need a teacher's degree, although that's a plus, of course.
- You should have a solid grasp of your subjects — backed by studies or relevant experience
- No tutoring experience? No worries! We guide you along the way. Start with our blog: How do you give good tutoring?
👉 Schedule your call here
After this conversation, Jan decides whether you can start as a tutor right away.
💡 Tip: in preparation for this conversation, read a bit more about our operations and take a look around the platform so that you can ask specific questions during these fifteen minutes.
3. Go live and start applying
Are you approved? Yes! You can now start responding to tutoring requests that match your skills and availability. You choose who you work with. Just be committed once a student accepts your We do ask for engagement as soon as you accept a student. Did something unexpected come up? Let us know so we can find an alternative solution for your student.
4. Boost your profile: this really makes a difference
🪞 A good profile stands out. A few tips:
- Upload a clear, warm photo of yourself.
➝ This way, parents know who is behind the profile. - Write an honest and motivating bio.
➝ Tell us about your experience, your way of teaching and what you find important in tutoring. Feel free to use ChatGPT for inspiration 😉 - Personalize your applications.
➝ Respond to requests with a short, personal text explaining why you're the perfect fit for this tutoring request. Avoid copy-paste! A message such as “I can help with tutoring in X” is often received by a parent and has no added value. Tell us why you're the right person, maybe you have a certain background, or have you already helped similar students? - Actively ask for reviews.
➝ Happy parents or students? Ask them to write a review. This helps your confidence and incresaes the trust of new tutueed because these reviews are visible to them on your tutor profile. - Price consciously.
➝ With us, you can choose your own price. Most tutors earn around €20/h net. The final cost for the parent depends on your rate, platform and VAT. ➝ We will help you with settiing your own price after the intake interview, which you can adjust afterwards by asking Jan. (We're working on a feature to do this ourselves.) Want to know more about our remuneration? 👉 www.eduvik.com/tutoring
5. 100% transparent: no tricks, no packages
At Eduvik, we work without packages and without mandatory courses. Why? Because we trust you.
We know you're coming into contact with parents and students, and you might feel tempted to meet “just off the platform.” But that's not how we work. And not how we can make this project a success together.
💡 Did you know this? Many other platforms require packages or work with hidden commissions — just to ensure that tutors don't work “outside the system”.
At Eduvik, we do things differently:
- You stay in control
- We handle all admin and taxes
- Parents know exactly what they're paying
- You get fair remuneration and visibility
As long as you enter your lessons on the platform, we can keep building something beautiful. Together, we make education fairer and more accessible.
6. Log each lesson via my.eduvik.com
After each lesson, take one minute to log it:
- Date and time
- Short feedback for the parent (what you covered, what went well or not, any homework or next steps)
This way, parents stay involved and everyone knows where they are.
👉 Based on those logs, your renumeration is processed automatically — no extra work needed on making invoices from your side.
7. Keep in touch with parents/students
After you apply to a tutoring request, parents can chat with you via the platform. After they accept your application, you'll receive each other's contact info.
💬 Our tips:
- Be responsive, clear, and friendly. Parents appreciate clear communication.
- Be proactive after the first lesson. Regular check-ins go a long way in building trust and long-term relationships.
8. Collect reviews and grow your reputation
Every lesson is an opportunity to shine. Feel free to ask parents if they want to write a short review after a few lessons.
⭐️ Reviews build credibility and help you attract more students.
9. Get paid automatically
During the first week of each month, you’ll get your payout — based on the lessons you logged. Simple, on time, and transparent.
10. Be part of the bigger picture
With Eduvik, you’re not just tutoring. You’re joining a community that wants to improve education:
- Transparent and fair for parents
- Flexible and empowering for tutors
- Actively supporting education equity via our Educare program
By logging your sessions and collaborating through the platform, you help us make this mission sustainable. And we’re incredibly grateful for that. ♥️
